University of Rome is involved in a cooperative project devoted to the study of aerosols and cloud particles over Antartica as well as their role in the aeronomy of higth latitude regions, The nature and characteristics of stratospheric aerosols and clous (PSCs), which represent a key element in the heterogeneous chemistry leading to the stratospheric ozone depletion, have been investigated by the use of an optical radar system (AU)
